BOILO Board Density Explained — What 1000+ kg/m3 Means for Your Furniture

By One Home Interiors  |  Authorized Action TESA Dealer, Hanumakonda, Warangal

Every BOILO brochure mentions 'density above 1000 kg/m3'. It is the board's headline number, but few buyers know what it means in practice. Here is a simple explanation.

What density means

Density is how much material is packed into a given space. A cubic metre of BOILO weighs more than 1000 kg. The same volume of typical commercial plywood weighs roughly 550 to 750 kg. More material in the same space means a harder, tighter board.

What high density gives you

The trade-offs

High density has practical consequences that your carpenter should plan for:

How to judge density in the showroom

  1. Lift one corner of a BOILO sheet and then an MDF sheet of the same thickness
  2. Look at the cut edge — it should be tight and uniform from face to face
  3. Press a fingernail into the edge; a dense board barely marks

You can do this comparison yourself at our showroom in Shayampet, Near ARKA School, Hanumakonda, Warangal.

Do you always need the highest density?

No. For wardrobes and furniture in dry rooms, HDHMR at above 850 kg/m3 is dense enough and easier on the budget. Keep BOILO for wet zones, heavy-use areas and places where fire safety matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is BOILO heavier than HDHMR?

Yes. BOILO is above 1000 kg/m3 and HDHMR is above 850 kg/m3, so BOILO is heavier at the same thickness.

Is higher density always better?

It is better for strength and termite resistance, but it adds weight and cost. Match the board to the location.

Can normal carpentry tools cut BOILO?

Yes, with sharp carbide-tipped blades and pilot holes for screws.
